South Street, Bishops Stortford

One of many joint ventures that has been carried out by E&A Securities, South Street Bishops Stortford was acquired unconditionally with our JV partners at the Rockhold Group. The property is located a 2 minute walk to Bishops Stortford station, with fast links to both London and Stansted airport. The property was originally built as a Co-op Store in the 1950’s, but over time became home to two restaurants and a mix of secondary retail units. The property was but with most of the building completely vacant and in a dilapidated state.

The Joint Venture partnership obtained planning permission from East Hertfordshire Council for flexible use classes A1/A2/A3 at ground floor, B1/D1/D2 at first floor and a new additional storey comprising of nine residential apartments.

Due to a number of town centre offices being redeveloped for mainly residential accommodation, E&A Securities and Rockhold subsequently saw the opportunity to potentially re-house a number of these office tenants and submitted an application to allow the entire premises to operate under a B1 use class and further widen its appeal to potential tenants.
